About me
Kate Marr is the Executive Director of Community Legal Aid SoCal (CLA SoCal), one of California's largest nonprofit legal aid organizations serving Orange and Los Angeles Counties. A proud legal aid lifer, Kate has devoted her entire 25-year career to advancing access to justice for low-income communities, beginning as a staff attorney representing survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Prior to joining CLA SoCal in 2017, she was a Managing Attorney at the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, where she supervised family law and immigration programs and founded the Greater Long Beach Medical-Legal Partnership. Under her leadership, CLA SoCal has doubled in size, growing from an $8.5 million organization to more than $17 million and expanding to a staff of approximately 150 employees. Kate is a recognized leader in the legal aid community, a past Chair of the Legal Aid Association of California Board, and a frequent advocate for policies and partnerships that promote housing stability, health equity, and access to justice
